Vulnerable Families in Butiru Receive Relief as Roofing Support Reaches Constituency.

MANAFWA — Vulnerable families in Butiru County are set to benefit from improved shelter after more than 500 iron sheets were donated to households struggling to roof or repair their homes.
The support, initiated by Butiru County Member of Parliament Hon. Godfrey Wakooli Matembu, is targeting widows and other residents facing financial hardship across the constituency.
The beneficiaries include households whose homes have remained unroofed or suffered damage, leaving families exposed to difficult living conditions.The iron sheets are being distributed across different sub-counties in Butiru County, with beneficiaries identified from requests submitted by residents seeking assistance.
Wakooli’s Personal Assistant, Emmanuel Wodada, said the initiative was designed to respond to cases of genuine need raised by residents. He said the distribution will continue to reach more vulnerable households in different parts of the constituency.
“We shall continue supporting people who are genuinely in need across the constituency,” Wodada said, while urging beneficiaries to use the materials for roofing and not sell them.
Among those who have already received the materials are Sarah Masai from Bunabwana Sub-county, Yemima Khakusuma from Makenya Sub-county, Eric Mwalye from Sisuni Sub-county and Robina Kharono from Buwaya Town Council.
The beneficiaries said the assistance had come at a critical time, particularly for families that had been unable to raise money to purchase roofing materials.
They said the iron sheets would allow them to restore their homes, provide safer shelter for their families and protect household property from exposure to harsh weather.
For widows and other low-income households, the cost of roofing materials can be a major financial burden, making home repairs difficult even when the need is urgent.The ongoing distribution is expected to extend to additional vulnerable households across Butiru County, providing further support to families struggling to secure decent and safe shelter.
