The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has called on Muslims to utilize digital technology to improve communication, research and service delivery within the Muslim community.

The call was sounded on his behalf by Sheikh Imuran Ssali, Secretary for Religious Affairs at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council while in Mbale city on Wednesday distributing digital tablets Muslim leaders from Eastern and Northeastern Muslim Regions.
The digital devices, which include Android tablets and power banks from the office of the Mufti of Uganda were distributed to all district Khadis, regional assistant Muftis, members of Shura councils and regional secretaries.

Sheikh Imuran Ssali highlighted that digital empowerment would help Muslim leaders transition from traditional methods of administration to digital technology and improve service delivery at different levels of the Muslim leadership structure.
According to Ssali, the tablets will enable leaders to access digital systems developed by the Supreme Council to facilitate services, including the issuance of marriage certificates and the payment of Zakat.
Dr Ahmed Wandega, the Assistant Mufti in charge of the Eastern Region, welcomed the initiative, saying it would improve communication and coordination of programs across the Muslim leadership structures.
Today, Wednesday 13th October 2026 , we received a delegation from His Eminence, the Mufti of Uganda’s office, and the main agenda was to distribute tablet gadgets, Wandega said.
