Kakiri, Wakiso – Kakiri Police FC has defeated Kakiri Giants FC in a friendly match played at Multake Playground in Kikubampanga.
The friendly, which brought together security personnel and local youth, was organized to strengthen the relationship between the police and the community.
The DPC Kakiri Police Station, SP Abbasa Kato, said the game is part of community policing. He noted that as the force prepares for the on going IGP Cup, such engagements with the community are vital to build trust and confidence.
“When we have a bond with the community, in case of any emergency, it becomes easy for people to get in touch with us. This is what we call community policing,” SP Kato said.
He added that Kakiri Police FC is currently topping the table in the league, and the victory in the friendly has boosted the team’s confidence and strength ahead of the next games in the IGP tournament.

On the other side, the Team Manager for Kakiri Giants FC, Timo, welcomed the initiative, saying the match was more than just a friendly.
“This game has not only been a friendly but has also helped us prepare our boys for the upcoming Ssewakiranga Anthony Memorial Cup 2026 Gala that starts on Friday. It also helps the youth to connect freely with the police,” Timo said.
He added, such activities reduce fear between the public and police and promote peace and cooperation in Kakiri.
The match ended with celebrations from both sides, emphasi
zing unity over competition.
